The nest is empty for the first time in a while, and in the silence of sunset the soul can grow weary. So, I turn to the oracle for a little inspiration as recently it serves me well to reflect on the greater purpose of things in this particular moment.
I spotted a pronounced rosemary bush today. Last night I was deep in the alchemy of Miriam of Magdala. And here, in the amber of the setting sun, I pull the rosemary card; herb of the Sun, herb of Mercury, gold and water.
My astroherbalism oracle guidebook speaks of Rosemary showing up when past emotions are resurfacing from deep within; of ancestral memory encoded in the very architecture of DNA. Rosemary offers multidimensional sight during this times, not to disassociate from the world, but to remember the vision that moves us, and to recommit to it.
She seems to speak wisdom and will in the same breath. Recalling the story of Eris offering a golden apple to one of the three goddesses of power, wisdom, or love, knowing that Aphrodite, goddess of love received it, I find myself agreeing; both wisdom and will are calling now.
We know love well. We know the pain within it intimately. But do we honor wisdom? Do we exercise will? Or have they been quietly surrendered, stolen, or forfeited, without our full knowing?
A walking meditation, perhaps.
Mercury is currently conjoined with Chiron in the sky, steadily approaching the Sun, scheduled to conjoin on the 14th of May. Interestingly enough, I notice that when Mercury reaches the Sun, the Moon will occupy the very degree where Mercury stands today.
In alchemy, Mercury is the spirit of all the elements, fluid, bonding, traversing boundaries, eluding containment. As quicksilver moves through matter, so the mind moves through worlds.
Rosemary mirrors this. 🪞🙏✨️
So, with reverence for the sunset, the silence, and what stirs within it. Peace Profound🌹
